The most famous royal family in the world is undoubtedly the British Royal Family. Currently consisting of King Charles III and Queen Camilla; William, Prince of Wales and Catherine, Princess of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; and Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, these are the working royals who carry out royal duties full-time. Other members of the royal family with royal rank who do not carry out official duties include Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis of Wales; Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet of Sussex; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; Princess Beatrice; Princess Eugenie; Katharine, Duchess of Kent; and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. Although there are nearly 25 other monarchies currently in the world, these members make up the most popular, talked about, and renowned royal family in the world.
The British Royal Family is an international brand that, along with the royal tourism it brings in for the United Kingdom, makes millions of dollars each year. A few ways the British Royal Family maintains their popularity is through events such as royal weddings or the births of new royals. Reports show that over 750 million people from around the world watched Prince Charles and Diana's wedding back in 1981, and an estimated 1.9 billion people tuned in to watched Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding in 2018. These weddings boost the families popularity with the fairy tale like ceremonies attracting the attention and love from people all around the world.
Another factor that helps the British Royal Family maintain their popularity is through their social media presence. Their official Instagram account @theroyalfamily has over 12.9 million followers, while their other accounts such as the one for Prince and Princess of Wales @princeandprincessofwales has over 14.6 million followers. Official Instagram accounts for all other royal families around the world do not have follower counts even close to the British Royal Family's. Through their social media, they can promote events, charities, and any other goals they want to accomplish as the royal family. This also helps them stay relevant with teens today and reach an audience that before was thought to be impossible.
