Winter Break 2022

Entering my last EVER high school winter break, now that it is over, it certainly went by way too quickly. Without any plans for travel, I did accomplish and experience many great things in town over the last two weeks. First, on December 30th, 2022, I got accepted in the University of Minnesota, the alma mater of both my parents and many of my aunts and uncles. I also got into the college and major of my first choice, which gave me some comfort knowing I now have a good safety school. This all happened while my mother and I were at the Subaru dealership shopping for a new car when I checked my email while waiting for coffee to dispense from the self-serve machine. It stated that there had been a status update in my portal. Quickly logging in while telling my mother there had been news was exciting and exhilarating.

With AREA auditions for clarinet and piano contests coming up in February, this break was also full of practicing and lessons to prepare for these events. Because for a random reason I don't like practicing during the day, there were many midnight clarinet practice sessions, playing in the comfort of my room so I don't wake anyone in the house up. However, I bet my neighbors could hear me through the windows. I am pretty nervous for AREA auditions this Saturday, because although I practiced, I know for certain that I did not practice enough or diligently enough to have a good shot at advancing to state. However, I will do my best and whatever happens will happen, no sad feelings.

I was also able to eat lots of good food over the break, from our favorite Chinese restaurant in Chinatown to in & out on new years eve, I gained FIVE pounds over the last two weeks. It will be okay though, as I also have been going to the gym a few times every week for cardio classes and indoor cycling classes. These classes have been a lot of fun and I thoroughly enjoy taking them as a way of fitness and fun. Some of these classes include Strike!, which is a cardio kickboxing class taught by this really cool and extremely fit instructor. I know this last semester of high school will go by quickly and I cannot wait for all the exciting things that are to come.
