Malaysia Airlines Flight 370

A conspiracy that has grappled me since the incident occurred is the disappearance of flight MH370. Departing from Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur International Airport on March 8, 2014 destined for China's Beijing Capital International Airport, the aircraft disappeared over the Indian Ocean and still has yet to be found, prompting many conspiracy theories. All 227 passengers and 13 crew aboard have been presumed dead, and the disappearance of flight MH370 was the deadliest incident in Malaysia Airlines' history until surpassed by the shooting down of flight MH17.

Having watched many documentaries on this event, it both horrifies and intrigues me as to how this Boeing 777-200ER, one of the safest aircraft flying in the sky, disappear in thin air with no debris to track down the huge plane in any ocean. Additionally, the search for the missing plane has become the most expensive in aviation history, with no successes every time, always ending in an unsuccessful investigation. Theories ranging from a hypoxia event to possible hijacking scenarios and crew involvement have been proposed in the years following the aircraft's disappearance, though none can be proven since the aircraft has not been recovered. The disappearance of flight MH370 shook the aviation industry, reinstating fears of flying for people around the world.
