No Time Left to Read.
Growing up with Rick Riordan's "Percy Jackson" series and Daisy Meadow's "Rainbow Magic Fairy" books, reading used to be an eager adventurous escape to another reality, often resulting in hours at a time of non-stop reading. Time would go by quickly as I became immersed into the characters and plot, becoming apart of the story.
However, with each school grade came more afterschool activities and homework, along with more practice needed to keep up with extracurriculars such as clarinet and piano. This led to time being taken away from reading, going from reading almost daily to being lucky if able to read every few days. Over time, reading slowly became a rare occasion, often going weeks without touching a book. High school English classes also began assigning required reading of books that were not exactly of the most interesting topics. This led to increasing disinterest in reading leisurely and for enjoyment. The once pure entertainment of books had become boring and dull, making it a chore to finish a book.
However, as I finish high school and move onto university, with more control over my day and schedule, I hope that I will be able to find more time to discover that enjoyment and fun in reading once again as a method of escape as I brace for what the future may bring.
