Single-Gender Education: Detrimental to Equality

While public schools have long be co-ed, many families still consider private single-gender options. However, modern psychology and social structure prove nothing but the importance of co-ed education, as boys and girls are educated together as equals and allows for people of all genders to learn how to get along with each other. Schools segregated by sex have many disadvantages, and people need to be aware of them.

When students are segregated by gender, they miss valuable time and opportunities to develop vital social skills. Additionally, many students that have attended sex segregated schools often wonder about the reasons for separation, and consequently question the value of one gender over another. Thus, single-gender education produce men and women who do not know how to communicate or interact with people of other genders.

The truth is that the real world does not afford a society where people can work with or interact with one gender over another. So when it comes to joining the workforce, or even going to college, students will experience an adjustment period. Eventually, it could be hard for students to assimilate into a mixed gender society. Children, at an early age, should be taught to co-exist so they can face the world's challenged head on and with each other.
